Switzerland is widely known for their banking secrecy, which makes the top the list of tax havens.
Today the campaign group Tax Justice Network published their annual Financial Secrecy Index showing the top tax havens around the world.
The aim of the Financial Secrecy Index is to show which jurisdictions that have “set up laws and systems which provide legal and financial secrecy to others, elsewhere.”
Despite a pledge from the G20 leaders in 2009 to close down the tax haven infrastructure that has enabled global financial crime it has barely been reformed.
Switzerland is in the top of the index, but there are several EU member states in the list as well. We’ve gathered them in our own list here – the numbers indicate where they are placed in the full index.
